I highly suggest visiting the Mashable Twitter Guidebook to learn about Twitter lingo, functionality and applications for using Twitter on your computer and mobile device.

Click on Twitter for College Students for simple instructions for tips specific to managing Twitter as a student. Among other helpful hints, the blog author explains how to activate your cell phone to use Twitter. While this is not a requirement, those of you with unlimited texting plans might find this useful. However, whether you use a computer, a smartphone or standard cell phone, I STRONGLY encourage you to manage your Twitter profile and notification settings that best fit your needs. For example, only if you have unlimited texting, would I advise subscribing to lots of individual tweeps’ updates (you would do this from individual profile pages and/or your next to profiles in your following page). Otherwise, you’ll get way more texts than you want to manage. You may want to only subscribe to @popacademy if you’re worried about deadlines and keeping up to speed on all my updates for the class.
